Here at
Roadrunner Pilot Car Services our winter months are usually slow, this is a
transportation standard in the Heavy Haul industry. Most heavy haul truck companies take breaks in the
winter because of ice and snow on the roads. With the holidays most of
the drivers relish this down time with family, food and football. Every year at this time we
foster new plans to increase our winter revenue and capture what little of the
industry is still out there working. Although our winter work is increasing year by
year we are still slow and have more down time than we would like. |

The
Tank,
I
met Dave on the start of a squelching hot day in Nevada, his boss Heath had
called to say he had a nightmare load that had some logistical issues, it
all started from the time they had picked it up. That’s just a nice way of
saying they got screwed on this load and now it was costing them a bundle. He
needed me as an escort driver to help him with this load!
I
took the run and I met Dave, a tall biker guy whose passion had been driving
trucks over the road for 36 years, he lives in Salt Lake with his wife and a
2003 Road King Harley. |

ON THE ROADI believe that most over the road truckers have in their heads written the best books, directed the best movies and are the best talk show radio hosts in America. If only there was enough time in a day and life of the Trucker to accomplish all the things that pass through their minds, our world would be a richer place. They have met the most amazing people and experienced the most amazing things. They know the when, where, how and the why's of some things the rest of us will never know in our lifetime. I hope through my blog I can bring to you some of their stories. So until the page turns,..... I will be seeing you on the flip side.
